The exhibition Synthetisch Vernünftig focuses on artistic mechanisms that have arisen in response to developments in “New Materialism” which can be perceived through simulations. A processual, fluid and dynamic tendency of generating form in relation to material/materiality and body/culture, these ideas are clearly synthetic, as they are computer-based nature. They imitate complex dynamic processes and shorten time-lapse and in so doing refer to a new form of reason. “Central to all approaches is an understanding of matter as an independent force, which is not passive, worked by man, but which produce their own phenomena. Therefore constellations which can be understood as Actants-Actor-Network (Bruno Latour) or Assemblages (Manuel DeLanda) move from person, thing, nature, with matter in the centre of the analysis . ”

Die Gruppenausstellung Synthetisch Vernünftig legt einen Fokus auf künstlerische Mechanismen, die als Reaktion auf die Entwicklungen des “Neuen Materialismus” entstanden sind und mit Hilfe von Simulationen Erkenntnis schaffen wollen. Die Künstler nutzen prozesshafte, fluide und dynamische Tendenzen zur Erzeugung von Form im Verhältnis von Material/Materialität und Körper/Kultur. Diese Ideen sind klar synthetisch, denn sie sind computergestützte Natur, die versucht komplexe dynamische Prozesse nachzuahmen, im Zeitraffer zu verkürzen und somit auf eine neue Form von Vernunft zu beziehen.
“Zentral bei allen Ansätzen ist ein Verständnis von Materie als eigenständige Kraft, die nicht passiv vom Menschen bearbeitet wird, sondern selbst Phänomene mit hervorbringt. Daher rücken Konstellationen von Mensch, Ding, Natur, Materie in den Mittelpunkt der Analysen, die als Akteur-Aktanten-Netzwerk (Bruno Latour) oder Assamblage (Manuel DeLanda) verstanden werden.”
